Madonna new face for Vuitton's ad campaign
Marc Jacobs, creative director of Louis Vuitton, has chosen Madonna as the new face for the luxury label . Shot by photographer Steven Meisel, a long-term collaborator of Madonna's, the six-image campaign takes a Parisian theme, as inspired by Vuitton's spring/summer '09 collection.
Madonna was chosen for the campaign by Jacobs, after he was "blown away" by her performance at the Sweet & Sticky tour in Paris. When it came to looking for a new face for the label, Madonna was an obvious choice. The advertising campaign is to launch next February worldwide.
Dressed in little but mesh stockings and head-spinningly high stilettos in the first pictures released, Madonna represents the designer's "vision of the quintessential Parisienne" embodied in his 2009 spring-summer ready-to-wear collection for Louis Vuitton, which was unveiled in October.
For the ad campaign, consisting of six images shot by Steven Meisel, a top industry photographer who worked with the singer on her 1992 book Sex, the star poses in a smoky Paris 1940s-style bar. The queen of pop exhibits her extreme flexibility, with her leg extended at a ninety-degree angle as she perches on a wooden chair. On her arm is the ubiquitous Vuitton statement bag.
Madonna previously appeared in campaigns for Versace, Gap, H&M and Max Factor.
