Pitti Uomo introduces female section
It's not all about men fashion at the upcoming edition of the Italian fashion trade show Pitti Uomo in Florence. Alongside menswear, the tradeshow will also offer womenswear. The Pitti W_Woman Precollection will focus on the Spring collections. Around 40 fashion brands will be represented at the Customs House based on the Via Volfanda at the first edition from 9 until 12 January 2008. Originally Pitti Uomo was solely set up as a tradeshow targeting on the fashion market for men.
According to the director of Pitti Uomo, Gaetano Marzotto focussing on womenswear is the next step. “Times change and so does fashion. The traditional way of thinking and how to organising tradeshows change with it,” said the director at a press conference in Florence. “Pitti Uomo is not just a menswear tradeshow, but also a fashion platform where the needs of the entrepreneur play an important role. Visitors from Paris, London, Berlin and Barcelona expect an excellent service, special events, but most importantly an overview of inspiring fashion.”
The previous edition of Pitti Uomo in January attracted fewer visitors in comparison to previous year. In 2006, 27.522 people came to Florence and in 2007 only 26.316 made their way down to the Italian trade show.
