Australian fashion - Alice McCall Spring/Summer 2007/08 collection

'Welcome to the Dollhouse' Resort Collection 2007Alice's collections capture the free, bohemian style of the 60's and 70's and it is this inspiration that continues to guide the path she walks. The tone for the collection is set with an audacious colour palette of ruby red, sapphire blue and black framed with neon details for a modern edge. This boldness is grounded with a feminine sensibility; soft grey, lemon and biscuit, and appear as beautiful poppies and cherry blossoms on soft silks and cottons.

Alice's signature whimsical dresses are framed with devore velvet panels, neon blanket stitch and contrast piping. Delicate silk blouses feature beautiful origami inspired folded and pleated waist bands, naive appliqué an sweet cotton sun dresses in bright primary colours have a child like innocence.

Short trench style jackets in navy and creme with red buttons that pop team with sporty Parisian striped jersey styles that have an urban sportswear edge. Chuncky exposed silver zips highest functionality in the strong silhouettes of rock and roll fashion - cool drill biker jackets and skinny jeans contrast with seventies bohemian florals in lime and sapphire.

Cute round toe flats and pumps compliment the collection, grosgrain ribbon threaded through eyelets and neon crochet edging add the signature Alice McCall handwriting. These off beat touches can also be found on a bucket bag and clutch purse to complete the look.

'Welcome to the Dollhouse' perfectly combines elements of tender girlish charm, bohemian flare and idiosyncratic detailing with a return to all things girly and fresh. The collection is pretty and youthful with the modern edge we have come to expect from the label, and of course there are plenty of surprises...
