Vivienne Westwood Boudoir Jouy (2009)

La grande dame terrible of British fashion Vivienne Westwood has released a new perfume called Boudoir Jouy to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original Boudoir launched in 1998. The new composition is inspired by Madame de Pompadour and the imagined atmosphere of her 18th century boudoir, as well as by the famous toiles de Jouy that would have hung in that intimate room.

"This romantic fragrance is as subtle and sensual as the original Boudoir, but with a fresher signature, top notes of Red Berries and Mandarin Zest, mingled with the lush green scent of Bamboo Sap.

In the heart, the smooth, powdery notes of Orris are freshened by Red Peony and Jasmine Petals, evoking the texture and colours of toile de Jouy. The dry-down blends crystalline white amber with mellow cashmere wood."

One can only appreciate the fact that the perfume aims to capture the very colors and textural feel of a pink toile de Jouy.

A 50 ml bottle price is around 50 euro / 65$. For fashionistas, please consider the Vivienne Westowood neckerchief also inspired by a toile de Jouy pattern.

Perfumistas can also choose to spray their scent on the neckerchief to allow for a quick change of wardrobe.

Matthew Williamson launches H&M range NYC

Matthew Williamson on Tuesday set Manhattan alight with his radiant collection for H&M. The summer range follows the successful launch of his limited-edition womenswear collection that launched in around 200 H&M stores worldwide on April 23. The party was held on The Majesty, a boat that was docked at the South Street Seaport and lit up in pink neon lights. With a performance by the legendary Grace Jones and guests including Lucy Liu, Helena Christensen and Mary Kate Olsen, revelers admired the new collection for men and women, available from May 14 worldwide.

H&M, Matthew Williamson“I think Matthew’s line right now is perfect timing. It is warm and gorgeous in New York and he always brings so much color and spring everywhere he goes” says Lucy Liu.

Working with H&M has been such a wonderful experience. The global launch event in New York City was a spectacular soiree. I was delighted to see so many of my friends from the fashion world support this collection. The models were beautiful and it was a special treat to have Grace Jones perform for me and my friends. I hope everyone is as excited as I am for my collection to hit stores globally on May 14 – including my first ever designs for men,”says Matthew Williamson.

Inside the ship, attendees were able to view the summer collection full of Williamson’s signature prints, tailored cuts and for the first time, a menswear line inspired by his own sophisticated style. Live models sashayed throughout the party donning the fabulous collection and also served as the background for the talented Grace Jones.

“The collection is all very typical Matthew Williamson. Wonderful colors and prints and all beautifully made. It goes really well with H&M’s own summer collection too”, says H&M's creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch.
